A packed half month. Building a practice room for our band, tired of paying for practice space. We'll see how well that works out... Our bassist is lame, not enough balls to talk to us, so he just doesn't show up or call. Musicians... Saw Tool last month(May 21st?), a friend had an extra ticket. While the new album was interesting, it didn't 'do it ( Read more... )

Congrats on the trip. That should be super fun.

New York is a blast. The subway runs pretty much all night, which is nice (in Boston, it stops running at 1230. The bars close at 2. Genius). If you're interested, you can get a New York City pass that lets you get into a ton of stuff around the city. The pass is like 60 bucks or so, but if you use it on all the stuff it's good for, it's a good deal. Also, the World Trade Center has a pretty powerful tour (http://www.tributenyc.org/) where a victim shows you around the center and tells their story. And friends have stayed at the YMCA in New York and said it's not too bad. Hotels there are stupidly expensive and my friends are cheap. And good luck finding the ghostbusters hotel. I couldn't ever figure out which one it was.

I've read about the NYC pass, good to know it's worth it if you make full use of your time. My grandmother definitely wants to see the WTC site, so I'll do that. I figure the statue of Liberty is a must. Ghostbusters, I didn't even think about that! Soup-nazi would be fun. Hotels are ridiculous, luckily I have a friend who lives in Manhattan who's going to let me crash there a night or two. I'm going to see a show or two, and my boss even offered to cover a performance as 'cultural development ( ... )

Joel....is he the guy who's kinda tall who did a America Peace Corp something or other? Traveling with people who love traveling makes it that much more great.

I have a friend of a friend who took the train from Moscow to China for a vacation one year. I think it took several days, if not a week, to get there. I think it sounds like great fun. Actually, anywhere (almost) sounds like great fun. It sucks the middle east is in such disarray these days. I think doing an ancient city tour would be great.

Traveling is so much fun. I keep threatening to learn another language and really do the Europe backpack thing. It just seems real life keeps getting in the way. This is where writing for national geographic could really be a handy profession.
