[While Chrodechild was definitely relieved to be out of whatever that strange place she had been sent to was, she was not pleased to find her half of the Chronicle of the Twin Blades was missing along with her clothing and her companions. Had they ended up in another world somehow? And how did she pick up a set of black wings? This was ( Read more... )

I hate to say it, but I think you just missed them.

[Well. Sort of. They've obviously been gone for a while, though he wouldn't exactly know when.]

[And since no one has yet to explain time differences, that just sounds impossible. She knows very well that Sieg is not the type to leave a comrade behind.]

That cannot be possible. I was just with them.

Perhaps in your world. But when they arrived here, they were on their own. Time is a funny thing in this place.

Could you explain what you mean by that? I admit my knowledge on Gateways is basic, but time should still be moving when using them.

Whatever brought you here works a little differently from these Gateways, then. While time still moves in your world, everything else seems to stop here.

Then that is all the more reason that I need to return as soon as possible.

Quite the contrary. Things will be just the way you left them when you return. When we're here, time doesn't move anywhere else.

How can such a thing be known?

Because people come and go here all the time. Not everyone recalls their previous stay here when they return to the village, but the ones that do will tell you how when they returned home, it was as if nothing had changed.

Is there someone here then who can stop time then?

[She's really trying to make sense of this, but nothing makes any sense.]

The scientists who brought us here, I suppose. The Malnosso. Likely through their Shifting technology, but I can't say that I know for sure. Most strange things that happen here can be blamed on Shifts.

[Way to go over her head there Caesar.]

Shifting technology? Does it shift time so it stops then? And what sort of strange things?

[He was answering to the best of his ability...!]

That's one way to think of it. As for what sort of strange things, the best examples are the experiments here. Have you not heard about those yet?

[And without explaining what a Shift is. It's like trying to explain about Chronicles to someone who isn't a Starbearer and not sound crazy at the same time.]

They do not sound pleasant, but not in great detail. [Since it's only come up with Marica and it makes more sense that that is last timewise.]

The experiments don't tend to be very pleasant, unfortunately. They don't last very long-generally no longer than a week as a whole-but they are troublesome nonetheless. These scientists are capable of changing how we think, how we feel, and even how we look. They're really something!

How can they change how we think, feel and look? Is this more of the Shifts you spoke of?
