So, over here in New York, today's a school holiday - Martin Luther King, Jr Day. As such, I thought I'd post a bitty podficlet, that fits today's theme of social activism.
(One) Prophet the Lord Didn't Choose to Deliver His People Out of Egypt, written by
roga, is a tiny little bit of fic featuring Gabe Saporta (of Midtown and Cobra Starship fame) reprising the role of Moses (of Old Testament fame).
As to how this seemingly random ficlet is relevant: Martin Luther King, Jr was a civil rights activist - trying to help his people achieve freedom and liberty. Moses also wanted to lead his people to freedom, and grant them liberty from the tyranny of Pharaoh's hand. Since Gabe Saporta is the new Moses, he is clearly acting as a civil rights activist in this story! (You see my logic, yes?) ***As such, this podfic is being used as a fill for my "activist" square on my
au_bingo card.
The Intro/Outro music for this podfic is a song called
Pharaoh, Pharaoh, which was absolutely the most perfect song I could have picked to go with this story. In fact, I first learned the words to "Pharaoh, Pharaoh" many years ago: at Vacation Bible Camp (there are dance moves and everything).
Clocking in at just over 6 minutes long, you can find the mp3 of (One) Prophet the Lord Didn't Choose... right
over here (thanks for hosting me,
paraka!), or you can stream the story by clicking below:
Happy listening, and enjoy the day off!
