Hiking at Sky Meadows State Park

We took advantage of the gorgeous autumn weather to go hiking yesterday in Sky Meadows State Park. A group of us took Hercules the llama with us for the walk. The park booth attendant had no clue what to do with a llama, so he called in a ranger. After a prolonged discussion, they dubbed Herc to be a horse and sent us off to walk the horse trails on the east side of Route 17. We took the outside loop of the bridle trail, ending up in the trees on the crest of the "mountain," then coming back down into the meadows as the sun fell low. It was a glorious afternoon.

Length, Round Trip: 5 Miles (8.33 Kilometers)

There are picnic facilities, trailer parking spots, hitch rails, a mounting block, port-a-jons, and a little playground at the trailhead.

We saw three or four birds of prey as we headed back to the cars. It was obviously dinner time.
