Friday Night at the movies

Today was an incredibly busy day, but not as productive as before. It seemed like everyone demanded attention at the same time today, resulting in a lot of halfway done tasks. I realized halfway through the day that I was being pulled in too many directions, but it was too late to abort. Fridays can be horrible for me that way. At least this week, I was diligent about writing down everyday a recap of the day's work, so today I only had to summarize today, before I could send it out. So yay for that. I must keep doing the daily summaries, otherwise I spend more than an hour on Fridays, usually at the very end of the day, trying to recreate my workweek.

We went to see OZ tonight. I enjoyed it, but I had a problem with the visuals. I was anticipating some stunning visuals, and instead...I found them lacking. The CGI was really lacking, there were too many Seus-looking landscapes, and and when I was expecting some really great depth of landscape, and richly detailed backgrounds, I was disappointed. Backgrounds had built in fuzziness or movement blur, so you couldn't really tell what you were looking at. Our eyes are getting accustomed to good Hi Def all the time now, so when a major movie, which we saw in 70mm on the Ultra Screen, doesn't even have that level of clarity, it gies the viewer a less than satisfying visual experience. Now, maybe we weren't seeing a 70mm version? Don't know. It's all digital now, does film size really relate?

Aside from that, Michelle Williams as Glinda the good witch reminded me of Rene Zellweger, who in turns reminds me of Tonya Muir. So I was thinking of Ton-Ton a lot through the movie. I loved the costumes, especially the outfit of the red witch.

Today I am grateful for good pizza at the theater. A cold soda when you *really* need one, and touchless car washes open late with no lines. I likes my RAV clean! I'm also very happy that this latest cold snap is over and the winds have died down so that it was actually in the 30's today and not horribly freezing.
