Random bits:
1. Why is festive not a mood option?
2. So I tried to switch back to an old part and it didn't work, which was very amusing and proof that I am absolutely crazy. I parted my hair down the middle and couldn't shake the feeling all week that it looked wrong and like a high schooler. Because that's when my hair did that. So silly.
3. I'm happy because someone wanted my POTC manips for their website. Though I don't get how they found them posted here and not on the crossposted lists.
Three CDS running on perpetual repeat:
Emilie Autumn - "Opheliac"
Calls herself gothic industrial. Pretty pretty. Strings! And synths! What I'd imagine it would sound like if all those wispy goth bands withe female vocalists would sound like if they got hard core. Lyrics are a bit silly, but that might be on purpose. Which is worth it when I get to write song titles like "Dead is the New Alive" on mixtapes.
Information Society- "Hack"
Oh InSoc, you are becoming one of my favorite bands, even if you are a relic from the 90s. I will go see your new incarnation when you play in November. I think this is what eventually became what the goths call synthpop. I love the samples. I love how it doesn't take itself seriously.
The Dandy Warhols- "Welcome to the Monkey House"
How did I avoid these for so long? How are they not more famous? It's hard to find good, fun trashy music. Makes me think of Placebo and Suede and all those other Brit sorta glam bands. Except the Dandies are from Oregon.
Two fun movies:
D.E.B.S
How can you not love something this candy colored and fluffy and goofy? They're spies! They're schoolgirls! They're schoolgirls and spies! I'm going to end up buying this.
Teknolust
Oh Tilda Swinton, you always make such bizzare, fascinating movies...
One strange book:
St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves, by Karen Russell
I'm not as in love with this as everyone else is. She's a great writer, and the stories are really interesting, but they all end the same. Bah. Maybe once I finish it will all make sense.
One book I want to read:
Pigtopia, by Kitty Fitzgerald
I picked it up because of the title. But it actually sounds like it might be a fun read. If only I was back in Obieland where the library has everything...
Didn't I promise myself I'd work on writing meaningful entries? Oh well.
