the aging couple i lived with a few summers ago in lyon nicknamed their daughter-in-law "Dauphine", which means either "dolphin" or "wife of the heir apparent to the throne", depending on context.
i only knew the dolphin meaning at the time, but given their gilded portraits of louis XIV, their love of bejewelled pinky rings, and their refusal to celebrate bastille day, i'm pretty sure they weren't kidding.
