I wanted some Indian food for lunch for a quite bite but Papa Day was closed (they don't open until 4pm on the weekends) so I ended up at Tandoori Kona since it seemed to have pretty high ratings. They are located in a plaza with ample parking and the place seems pretty busy.
Inside it had the nice smells of indian curries and the sweet desserts, so it had a lot of promise. There were lots of other tables and the food looked really good!
I phoned in my order for pickup, and was told 30 minutes. There was a few minutes wait time when I got there, not a big deal. I ordered a mild butter chicken, 2 orders of naan, and one medium paneer briyani. When I opened the box for the briyani I was a little disappointed at the price for amount I got. I thought it would have been more like a heaping box or something, but it wasn't really that full.
The second downer was when I actually ate the briyani. It had a lot of colour, but it was ultimately bland and with a little bit of spiciness being the highlight. I had to eat it with the butter chicken gravy because otherwise it was like spicy plain rice. With paneer.
The butter chicken was on the bottom of the bag, and the container kind of imploded on itself so I lost a bit of the gravy to the mercy of the plastic bag :( I was pretty sad about that. The taste was pretty good, and the chicken pieces were juicy, but Anata felt that the amount of chicken in the serving was kind of lacking compared to Papa Day. Papa Day's chicken is about $1.50 more in price but Anata felt like you're getting more chicken so it's more worth the value.
The thing that I felt wasn't really worth the value was the double naan order. Each order was 2 pieces of naan, which was nice and fluffy, but I guess we got spoiled with how much Papa Day gives for their naan orders. The taste was good because it was fluffy and soft, but I was a little sad that we didn't get more.
Overall we weren't too happy with our food here. The butter chicken was pretty good for taste, but we felt the value was a little lacking.
