Hurricane Irene

Aug 28, 2011 13:05

I interrupt the flow of photographs from my Spanish extravaganza to give you a live report of Hurricane Irene. After all of the weather reports, all of the evacuations, all of the panic and hysteria, this is what it looks like from my apartment:

Small body of water in my yard and some leaves and branches from the willowy tree. Basically, this is what my yard looks like after every rainstorm of any severity. So ultimately, I did not have to tie down my patio furniture but it is probably best that I locked up my pet chickens (you can hear them protesting their incarceration in the video, but I didn’t think they were smart enough not to be blown away). New York 1 tells me that other areas of the city and Long Island have no fared so well, but I guess we will not know the true extent of the damage until the storm completely passes this afternoon.

At this point, I am hoping it takes them until late into the night to start the subway up again, because this means no work tomorrow. Come on Irene!
