Is it sad that for me, the biggest drawback of my new job is having less time to work on my fanfiction? (Yes, it is.) Actually, I really spent too much time reading/writing fanfiction anyway, so that's probably a good thing. But I do have two half-finished stories due within a month that I need to get cracking on. I'm still getting the hang of how to best manage my time now. And once I feel more confident in my new job, I'm seriously thinking about joining Big Brothers Big Sisters again. Maybe.
Anyway, my birthday was this weekend, and what did I do to celebrate it? Well, I...
- SLEPT IN!
- Made turtle-style brownies with caramel and walnuts and ate them with ice cream.
- Enjoyed some beautiful fall weather.
- Watched the Star Trek: Generations movie with Sara -- and almost died laughing at a priceless scene of Guinan riding a merry-go-round unicorn!
- Took a nap in the middle of the afternoon.
- Enjoyed dinner at Chili's, courtesy of Sara. I had my favorites: sweet potato fries, buffalo chicken with blue cheese, and a giant cookie for dessert. Yum!
- Bought myself three things that I'd been wanting for some time: more yarn, a full-length mirror for my closet door (although I still have yet to hang it), and my own copy of Les Miserables! I found a great hardback copy on sale at Barnes & Noble. I can't wait to make notes in the margins!
All in all, it was a very pleasant, relaxing weekend. And at work today, my coworkers surprised me an ice-cream cake! They also sang Happy Birthday to me; I was so embarrassed. :\
