A new START
While I'm happy to see Obama following in the footsteps of Reagan again (first with tax cuts and now with arms reductions) the concerns of the Republicans who voted against this treaty should not be discounted.
If it turns out that Obama has lied about this treaty not restricting missile defense development and/or deployment there will be hell to pay.
ETA: What the Russians have repeatedly stated:
The admiral said General Makarov repeated President Medvedev's position that there will be no agreement to extend the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty when it expires in December unless President Barack Obama abandons the Bush administration's plan to build the European missile defense system. The United States says the system is designed to defend against Iran's growing missile capability, and would not be a threat to Russia.
If Obama announces "delays" or "reconsiderations" of missile defense plans we'll know the truth of the matter.
