After decades of federal meddling in education it has achieved a remarkable accomplishment: a sizable number of high school graduates are
too uneducated to pass the entrance exam for military service.
Nearly one-fourth of the students who try to join the U.S. Army fail its entrance exam, painting a grim picture of an education system that produces graduates who can't answer basic math, science and reading questions, according to a new study released Tuesday.
Why does a somewhat sane society insist on subsidizing such massive failure?
Of course there's the very real possibility that this will simply start a feedback loop where uneducated people keep voting to subsidize a system that produces even more uneducated people.
That would be great news for people who are part of a political class that exists outside the public education system who wish to influence the public in such a way as to ensure their own power is never threatened by an enlightened voting class.
(That would be the Democrats.)
Welcome to the new slavery!
