Questions for Kagan

Jul 21, 2010 02:16

After reading this story about Kagan and Sharia law, I have some questions for her. It may be too late for the Senate Judiciary committee but not too late to obtain before a general vote!

There is now a question about whether she supports the notion of separation of church and state. The following is about Feldman specifically but she hired him and seemingly supports this viewpoint.
Like Feldman’s book, this Conference was upbeat on the prospects of introducing Shariah law into Constitutions. Feldman was said to have been the advisor in Iraq who insisted on putting a clause in the Iraqi constitution requiring legislation comply with Shariah law. In the main, the conference participants appear to have treated the introduction of Shariah amendments into national constitutions as progress - a good thing.

Would she "submit" to living under Sharia law?

Would she be as enthusiastic about an amendment to the US Constitution that said it had to comply with Biblical edicts?

Does she support inclusion of religion in governing law only when it is not Christianity?
