Democrat "strategy" for 2010: keep blaming Bush

Jan 02, 2010 13:16

In one way it is amusing to watch political parties fail to see the forest for the trees. The Democrats are planning on running against President Bush, again, in 2010.

I suppose in some ways they understand that President Bush hasn't been running for office since 2004 but then again they never accepted his victories as "legitimate" and so continue to run against him.

However, like their obsession with President Reagan, their "strategy" of constantly running against a former President will fail them.

Voters may be notoriously ill-informed and have some of the shortest memories around but they do seem to understand that when one party is running against someone who held office years ago it is because they have nothing to offer voters in the current elections.

Which is true! What else can the Democrats offer except more deficits that are 3-4 times what they were under the "awful" Bush administration? A failed "stimulus" bill? Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq with more troops involved than during the "evil" Bush administration? An ill-advised attempt to socialize the American medical system and reduce it to a mediocre system dominated by bureaucrats? Continue to promote the hoax of the century by pimping climate change?

All losing issues in 2010!

They do have a silver lining to their clouded future: they are running against Republicans. A party except for the odd Congressional campaign cycle like 1994 are notorious for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
