Has anyone read Jessica Abel's new graphic novel? It's a beautiful hardcover, pretty big (not as big as Blankets though). It's about a girl who goes to Mexico City to live, to get in touch with her Mexican roots; but she meets a communist who dismisses her as an American bourgeois, which sends her to great lengths to prove him wrong. It is (probably) a title page from his painted comics story "A Frog's Eye View", to be featured this October in One Thousand and One Nights of Snowfall, the Fables original graphic novel. Well, today I worked from 5-11. Shawn moved out today, so he's no longer with us here in Ashley Oaks. As I was taking a shortcut down Wallenburg toward Ashley Hall, I was thinking about how beautiful the warm spring is in Charleston. How great it is to be living here.
