Mr. Doyle,
I find your comments in today's Globe troubling.
C.J. Doyle, executive director of Catholic Action League of Massachusetts, called upon the archdiocese to “vigorously defend’’ the school’s decision to revoke admission to the youngster. “The real question here is why two people who radically repudiate the moral teachings of Catholicism would want their child educated in a Catholic school,’’ Doyle said in a statement. The other real question, Mr. Doyle, is why one person who radically repudiates the moral teachings of Catholicism would call himself a "League" and send statements to the media claiming to represent Catholics in general.
The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition. Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2358
Unjust discrimination against homosexuals, and especially against their innocent children, is always wrong. The Archdiocese does not, and should not, have such a discriminatory policy.
Respectfully,
Ray Vaillancourt
