Continued from Return to Time: Like Cats and Dogs - I
“Usagi-chan, give it back!” Minako cried as she chased her laughing friend down the sidewalk. “That's an ultra rare copy of the third Kaitou Ace manga!”
Usagi laughed gleefully as she dodged her friend. Her laughter cut off rather abruptly, however, as she ran into something hard and unyielding. “Urghhhh...” she moaned as she slowly slid down the side of the oddly shaped red phone booth that had suddenly appeared in her path.
Minako snatched the manga out of her fallen friend's hands and clutched it protectively to her chest, and then paused to give the phone booth a puzzled look.
“Oh, Usagi-chan, are you all right?” Ami asked worriedly as she crouched beside her fallen friend and touched her shoulder.
“What is that thing?” Makoto asked as she and Rei came to a stop beside Minako.
“A bobby box,” the blonde replied, still looking confused.
“A what?” Rei and Makoto chorused as Ami helped Usagi back to her feet.
“A bobby box,” Minako said again as she turned her attention to them. “You know... No, wait, you don't...” Her expression grew more confused for a moment, and then became superior. “Of course you don't. You've never been to England.”
“What does England have to do with anything?” Rei grumbled as she glared at the blonde.
“It is an English style police box,” Ami interrupted as she inspected Usagi's face for bruises, blood, or broken bones. “In England, they call the police “bobbies”, though I do not think they extend that term to the police boxes...”
Minako shrugged, her superior expression becoming a slightly chagrined smile. “Whatever...” She staggered suddenly as a familiar looking grey streak came out of the police box and ran between her legs. “What the...?!”
“Bark! Bark! Bark!”
Minako's eyes widened and she jumped suddenly to her right. In the spot where she had been standing, a bright laser scorched the sidewalk. Her friends cried out in surprise and began to look around for the enemy.
“Raaawrrr!”
“Bark! Bark! Bark!”
“Hissssss!”
“Di... Diana?” Usagi called in surprise when she finally spotted the grey cat dashing around the sidewalk and trying to get back into the red phone booth. Unfortunately, a robotic dog with a laser in its mouth was blocking its way.
Diana turned her head, trying to see who had called for her while still keeping an eye on the strange dog.
“Diana, where are you?” another, more familiar voice called out. “What is going on?”
Diana gave a cry of joy and bounded towards Nadeshiko, who was standing in the phone booth's doorway.
“Chi... ChibiUsa-chan?” the five friends from Earth chorused in surprise.
“Intruder! Intruder! Bark! Bark! Bark!”
Nadeshiko squealed in surprise and leapt away as the robotic dog shot a laser at her as well. “What's going on?”
“Lady-sama!” Diana growled low in her throat as she turned to glare at the creature that had dared to attack her mistress. She crouched down and prepared to attack. She was cut off, however, by five angry teenagers.
“Hey! Leave her alone you pile of junk!” Makoto cried as she grabbed the dog's metal tail. Its eyes flashed for a moment, and then her eyes widened as a high powered electrical shock went through her. “St... Stop that!”
“Mako-chan!” Usagi called anxiously.
“Don't touch her!” Ami called out desperately as she grabbed Usagi's shoulder.
“Hey, bio-dog! Over here,” Minako called tauntingly, her eyes narrow and hard.
