what's in a promise, anyway?

I swore to myself I wasn't going to go to any conventions during my first year of college. Self, I said, you are going to need time to settle in. You cannot handle gallavanting off to cons to which you cannot only not drive, having no driver's license, but also cannot pay for, having a college student's budget. This cannot happen.

And now I say: screw it.

Because when Terry Pratchett is the Guest of Honor at MidSouthCon, you know I am bloody well going to be there. With my copy of Small Gods and a big, stupid grin. Hells yes.

In other news, I got back from freshman orientation at the W earlier today. I went, I saw, I got orientated, I came home, I fell asleep. Dorm mattresses... must... die. I had no roommate (and no sheets, fun), but I did meet various and sundry cool people, including crazy Oxford chick (hallo if you're here!) and Broadway fiend!girl, who could seriously give Llama a run for his money. The Orientation Leaders were on some serious crack, but in a fun way. It was all good. I am looking forward to college to an insane degree.

more... sleep...
