Well the first week at my new job is over. So far so good. I'm a little bored at the moment, but that's to be expected. There are a lot of young people in the company, which is a change for me. I'm used to being the baby of the office; now I'm just one of many "kids." The atmosphere is very casual and laid back. I went to work in jeans and flip flops on Friday, which was strange. I did get to officially test my first app yesterday. It was pretty basic and not at all as complicated as the programs I'm used to testing so I was able to finish it quickly. Hopefullly they give me more complicated stuff next week; we'll see.
I got to hang out with old friends last night. It was amazing. We were probably only there for a few hours, but it was time well spent. I love sitting around a bonfire, drinking, talking, and doing nothing. I love that my friends have quality friends, and I don't have to worry about anything when I go there. I love walking in the house and talking to their mom for a half hour and all of the sudden realizing that I haven't said hi to my friends. I love quality time with amazing friends.
I ended up dropping my class which in turn meant that I dropped out of my core group. But no worries, I start the class up again at the end of the month with a different core group. I'm just thankful that they were able to get me into the September group and that I didn't have to wait till December.
I'm debating taking some QA certification tests. Wouldn't it be cool to have a bunch of letters at the end of your name? Yeah, that's what I thought too. There are two different certifications that I think would be applicable: Certified Software Quality Analyst and Certified Software Tester. I don't know if I'm going to have time to study for them between school and work, but if I get a good handle on work I think I could squeeze in studying. We'll see.
I'm not sure what's happening this weekend. I'm going to my father's company picnic in a few hours. I wanted to go to a
Catholic Worship Concert at Walsh University. Paul George and Matt Maher in the same place at the same time...I'd be crazy to miss it! I also wanted to get together with a friend and his girlfriend. I was invited to a party by an acquaintance that I really don't want to go to, but Mary wants to attend. Tomorrow is church and dinner with friends. Oh, and of course we're squeezing the gym in sometime. Other than that I got nothing going on. I'm just going to enjoy the beautiful weather and not being stressed.
