Thirteen Things I Never Thought I Could Do at the Gym

1. Use the free weights correctly. Free weights used to scare me, but now I try to incorporate them into my routine.

2. Flex my pecs. You may not believe it, but I can flex my pecs. The first time my trainer asked me about my pecs he said, "Do you play with your chest?" I didn't quite understand what that had to do with the gym, but I was open to ideas. :-) I practiced flexing my pecs for hours until I could do it well.

3. Squats. Multiple squats and then hold. I used to hate them...now they're routine.

4. Use the machine that works your delts. It's my second favorite machine meaning that I hate it.

5. Know where a delt is...or approximately where it is.

6. Use the seated press voluntarily. This is my first fav machine. I really hate it. But I used it voluntarily two days ago.

7. Get on the treadmill...and then run on it. I hate running because my knees hate it. I hate the treadmill cause my knees hate it. So to combine the two of them is incredible.

8. The elliptical machines. The first time I got on an elliptical machine, I could barely make it through 10 minutes. Now it's my favorite cardio machine.

9. The stairs. My trainer used to make me run the stairs, which I hated. But I also hated the stair-stepper machine. That was really because I sucked at it.

10. Crunches. Crunches are overrated. Really. But they work. They work well.

11. Lunges. Enough said.

12. Leg presses. Have you seen that machine? It's crazy. My thighs are on top of my boobs, guys get a good shot of my ass, and sometimes I feel like I could fall asleep on it. It's an odd machine, but it's a good time.

13. The functional trainer. Also known as the crazy sex machine. Look at it...doesn't it look like a crazy sex machine? Anyway, Leo had me do some crazy arm and leg things on it. It doesn't scare me anymore.
