Lately, I've found myself remembering my trip to England. Here are some more pictures! Click on them for a larger view.
A stained-glass window in Canterbury Cathedral. It was put in sometime after World War II--hence the bright, bright colors and modern drawings. It really stood apart from the other stained-glass windows, which were hundreds of years old. The imagery commemorates the victims of the Holocaust. I'm not sure what all the symbolism is, but isn't it beautiful?
A very old painting of the Madonna and child. I love the black cloak against the gold coloring. The painting was in the Eastbridge Hospital in Canterbury. Here, the world "hospital" means hostel. It was a place for pilgrims to stay as they visited Canterbury Cathedral. It served in that capacity from the 12th century onward (now it's a museum).
St. Paul's Cathedral in London! I really enjoy the contrast between old and new architecture in this picture. St. Paul's Cathedral is where Charles and Diana got married.
A statue at the Roman Baths in...guess where? Bath. I LOVED Bath. The statue actually wasn't made in Roman times--according to the Brits, it's "only" Victorian. Bath Abbey is in the background.
My classmates Robin, Hilary, and I at a bed and breakfast in Chilham. Best breakfast and night of sleep in my life. Plus, the hike there was absolutely beautiful.
As always, I'll end with this: More pictures coming soon!
