One of my two insomnia anthems is Beastie Boy's 'No Sleep til Brooklyn' (the other is Green Day's 'Brain Stew') and it's on loop in my brain this week.
I can't believe it's thursday already for one thing. I don't think I've slept enough for the week to be this far along. Monday was laying around after work in that headachey, dry eye'd, no drive slump that makes me feel guilty. Then I over did it on tuesday with the stairs and my knees and hip (and shoulder! wth!) gave me fits all night to add to my not sleeping and yesterday I never really caught a nap (I go to work at 4am wednesdays so if I want to be functional in the afternoon/evening I really need a bit of a nap) Today the alarm went off and it was a struggle to resist the temptation of the snooze button. Do I really need to shower before work? (the answer is yes, for those of you wondering)
'Oh, woe is me. Poor pitiful me.'
Okay, enough with the bitching and moaning.
I saw the Broadway production of Lion King last night and it was amazing. Have any of you seen it? I coulda watched the opening number over and over for two hours. The costumes are phenominal. I was most taken by the giraffes. They don't look or move like there's a person in there. The plot is exactly the movie, but there's something about live performances that make even the mundane magical. And it was far from mundane.
I'm very glad tickets for the theater season are sold so far in advance. (I bought our tickets for all the different shows this season last august when I still had a nice paying full time job.) the bummer part is tickets for next season are coming up for sale and there's so many things I want to see and money is so much tighter this year. Eh, I've got a couple of months to save, and thankfully the cheap seats usually run aobut $35 so it's pretty doable.
'no sleep til, nuhna-nu-naaah, Brooklyn!'
