Hello everyone, updating from the goddamn sunny Kuwait staging area. Apparently part of the regulations is that i have to contact any "Loved ones" within the first week or so of deploying, in order to reduce the number of crazy Red Cross calls, i guess. Either way, it means i can let you know how i'm doing.
You know the first half hour or so of Star Wars? Yeah. I feel like Luke Skywalker right now. You think you have it hot when it tops 110 in the states, but here, here it starts out that way and ends up getting progressively hotter during the day. I'm not sure what the heat index is, but you literally have to drink water every 100 or so yards. The desert wind hits you like a hairdryer on high, and on the odd occaision there is a cloud in the sky, it does notzhing! I have a newfound respect for all those biblical figures who wandered the desert for decades: It's an unforgiving place and i have no idea why anyone settled here.
Oh, and camels. Herds of them.
Anyway, going through all the acclimation, classes, and last minute stuff before we roll out to our proper place (which, i'm told, should be a few degrees cooler, thankfully). Doing okay after a small bout of climatizing troubles.
Also, if you want me to call, email me your number or somesing. No guarantees, but these guys with families who can't understand my situation are really pressuring me to actually call someone. >.>
