2011? Done.

Year nine and counting.

1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Been in a relationship with a future.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't keep the pseudo-resolutions that I made last year. Last year, I wanted to continue on the upswing path that I was on. That undoubtedly failed. I also wanted to cleanse myself, which, psychologically as well as physically I failed at, miserably (As of this writing, I need a shower). I still have that hedonistic gluttony running rampant in my life. I'm in therapy now, at least, so bonus there. For this year, I just want to push forward as far as I can on this jello-mold of a path that I've been putting together for myself for the past two months. It's gonna lead me good places, as long as I keep working at it, and with a hefty amount of luck.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I don't think so, but the people around me need to hop to it. I'm starting to go deaf from all the shouting from my ovaries, and I need to be around some babies to shut them up.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No funerals this year, thank god. A couple of close calls, but everyone (me included) is still kickin'.

5. What countries did you visit?
Canada and USA

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
Money. Independence. 122 credits that count in the history department of UNCG.

7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
February 24th, for the death of my campaigning career. September 5th for my last seizure (hopefully forever). November 5th, because remember remember, I became official with the best guy pretty much ever.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Opening up myself in a very intimate way. Being trusting enough to love, right and proper.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Getting more independent. It's easy to say that it wasn't my fault, and there was nothing that I could do, but I'm calling bullshit on myself. This was a pretty miserable year, and I'm making solid headway on pulling myself out of this awful bog that I've been trapped in since February. I'm a self-destructive girl, and I always have been. I think that not having a control over this self-destruction is my biggest failure.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Seizures kicked my ass from here to the moon and back again a lot of times. It was kind of obnoxious.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
That I bought? I didn't do much buying. I was pretty broke all year. I'll say my computer case, because it looks like a book, and that's fucking awesome.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I already said it last year, but I really can't think of anyone who deserves celebration more than Khaki this year. She's a great friend, duh, but holy shit. If you pay attention, that girl isn't just walking towards her goals, she's cartwheeling there. A constant cartwheel. She's capable of so much, and is doing so much with all that capability, it kind of makes me dizzy, and I'm not even doing shit. She's got a lot on her plate, and she makes it look easy. Amazing.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Coffee. I'm doing more with UNCG, just all online. I've never been good at doing homework at home, so I go to coffee shops and get shit done. I may not have much money, but a solid chunk of what I did have went to independent coffee shops in downtown Raleigh.

15. What did you get really excited about?
Adam.

16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Satellite by Guster

17. Compared to this time last year, are you
i. happier or sadder?: sadder.
ii. thinner or fatter? thinner.
iii. richer or poorer? poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Making good decisions.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Seizing.

20. How did you spend New Year's?
Last year, Khaki and I had a night. We started at my house for an hour while I finished getting ready. We had a glass of wine and a nice visit. Then we went to her parent's house for pork tenderloin and fancy drinks. Then we changed and went to her brother's party. That was a lot of fun, although kind of strange, considering the age difference. The boys there were ridiculous, and the cops came on a noise violation. Very college-y. Then we got Cook Out and went to bed. Quite adventurous.

This year, to ring in 2012, I went to Greensboro with Adam. Liz threw a lovely party, and I had a marvelous time, what with the staying up until 6am. New Year's Day, we woke up and got the most delicious breakfast in all of history (grits, hashbrowns scattered all the way, and biscuits & gravy), napped on a handsome man while watching a B movie, had chinese food, and watched Finding Nemo in a room full of some of the most fantastic people that I know. It was so perfect.

22. Did you fall in love in 2011?
You bet your butt I did.

24. What was your favorite TV program? of 2011?
How I Met Your Mother, bitches!

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
"I really don't think so. Hating requires a lot of effort, and I'm wildly lazy." --Randi Washington, 2011

26. What was the best book you read?
Oh maaaannn... Tough call. I'm gonna go with Brainiac by Ken Jennings, because that man is hilarious, and has so much to teach in ways of knowledge and tolerance. He's a Democratic Mormon!

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I knew about him, but Ben Folds has been of great comfort this year. His Greatest Hits was fucking fantastic. Nick Hornby I tell you! Nick Hornby!

28. What did you want and get?
Love.

29. What did you want and not get?
Less Seizures.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I'm not good at keeping up with films. Amelie and About A Boy are still my favorites, with the addition of Little Miss Sunshine!

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
25! I had a birthday WEEK. It was amazing. Khaki took me out one night (when we met Steve!), Ethan took me out another night, I had a get-together with a bunch of people from Greensboro (Allie was there!), and then I rounded it out with a quiet night in with Khaki at my house, where we made sushi! Oh, what fun it was.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not seizing.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
I'm still a bum a whole bunch, and I wear too much black. Past that, I'm totally adorable.

34. What kept you sane?
Love. Friends, relationships, family... I would have crashed and burned in the kind of way that you don't get better without them and their love.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Ken Jennings, hands down. He writes hilarious books and limericks about Alex Trebek! ("There was once a man named Trebek, whose mustache was sexy as heck. It would have been weird, if he had a big beard, like Conan or Riker on Trek.")

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The whole Occupy movement. Even if it isn't efficient, it's a sign of things to come, I hope.

37. Who did you miss?
The people I met while campaigning.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Adam. Hands down.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Pinch Me by the Barenaked Ladies has a few gems that really sum up how I felt this year...

"I feel fine enough I guess, considering everything's a mess"
"It's like a dream you try to remember, but then it's gone. Then you try to scream, but it only comes out as a yawn... When you try to see the world beyond your front door"

And if you are curious, here are the eight years prior...

2007!
