I went shopping today. Yes, I got another pair of shoes. BUT this time they are practical shoes, ones I can wear when I walk to campus. They aren't really super super cute though, so I didn't take a picture. (They are acceptable to the eye, or I wouldn't have gotten them, but I still haven't decided how cute I think they are.)
I also found a new pair of jeans. They are exactly like my favorite pair, except a different wash. Going shopping for jeans is almost as frusterating as going shopping for swimming suits. Most of them don't fit right, and they never have your size, and and it always requires trying on a million pairs before you find one you like. Actually, this time I only tried on 3 pairs, but that's because I only bothered with one brand. Really, how hard is it to make jeans that fit my body type? I didn't think I was really that oddly shaped...
Anyway, the most delightful thing about the whole shopping expedition was that the weather was absolutely gorgeous outside, so I didn't even need a jacket. I am so not excited to go back to 15 degree weather tomorrow. I like waking up, wandering out to the grapefruit tree, and picking a nice grapefruit to eat with breakfast. No jacket necessary. Shoes optional. Oh well. I'm bringing a box of 'em back with me, so at least I can wake up, wander out to the kitchen, and select a nice grapefruit anyway, even if it won't be quite so fresh.
I just spent an hour working on internship applications. I have no idea why they need all that information. One of them requested the exact day I planned on graduating. Isn't the month good enough? But no, I had to find a 2009 calendar and calculate when graduation would be that year. Another one wanted the exact day I enrolled in college. Now, is that supposed to be the first day of my freshman year, or what? Why is that day even remotely significant? Again, what's wrong with the month/year thing? Why must you make life so complicated? Evidently I'm lazy because I don't like looking all that stuff up, but it really is rather annoying. Of course, in an ideal little world, I would only have to do one application and I could submit it to as many places as I wanted. But life is never ideal. I suppose if it were it would probably get rather boring, so one should be grateful.
And now I should really go to bed. I actually get to sleep in a bed! It was so delightful waking up in my own bed instead of an air mattress this morning. In fact, it was so delightful that I didn't actually wake up until noonish. Not so conducive to feeling productive, but I definitely relished the chance to sleep in properly. There's nothing quite like waking up to a purring kitty nudging your hand. Infinitely better than an annoying alarm.
