Oh lord. He'p me, lord. I have the hiccups - for the third time today. Ugh. I feel like hell. I think my colon needs to move out and get it's own place.

I wasn't online yesterday. Nice to see that everyone survived without me.

Let's see. After work, I went to Perkins for food and time killing before my 0830 doctor's appointment. Passed by some road work on the way there, ran over a piece of metal that got stuck in my right rear tire (well, the car's right rear tire) and it proceeded to go completely flat. Shit. Called Dad, woke him up, he's half delirious as I woke him from a dream. Anyway, after shouting and hissing at each other, he agrees to come to the restaurant to get my car. He gets there in BARELY enough time for us to talk, give him the metal piece I yanked outta the tire, and exchange cars so I could go to the office.

At the pulmonologist's office, I was told that I do need the CPAP. (Duh.) They filled out the paperwork and said they'd have their usual supplier call me. I will then get a thorough how-to on the machine and given one on a rent to own basis. If I use it all the time, and prove to my insurance that I use it that often, they will pay for some of it. At this point, I don't really care if they pay or not. I just want one of the damned things so I can sleep. *Grouses*

Dad got the tire fixed. He won't tell me what it cost for the repair. Dad, I got the money. He just held his hand up.

He saw his oncologist yesterday. Everything is "good". Didn't get to talk to him much before I had to run out the door to work. :)

Work has been strange. Yesterday, halfway through the night, my phlebotomist (not the regular one, she's on vacation) decided she needed to go to the emergency room. However, this left me without a phlebotomist for a while. Luckily, she held out until 0430. The rest of the phleb. crew come in at 0500. I kind of wonder if she was having a gall stone attack. Then today I had a CSF to do from the ER as well as a type and screen to run stat and a blood culture rang up positive - all at the same time. Thank God KWR was there. I did all of the hematology stuff while she did the chem and micro. I had to tell her to do the micro part (the chem part takes maybe 10-15 minutes). And of course Dr T was calling every 20 minutes, "Is it done yet?!" ARGH! Those things take forever! Shut up. The more I have to answer the phone, the longer it's going to take. Patient was negative anyway. (Of all the CSF testing I've done, I've only had two or three that weren't positive. They've all been viral.) Then, the whole rest of the evening, I didn't do diddly shit. Yeah, I did maintenance, read the procedure manual for the pipette washer thingy, did a competency test, and so forth, but only timed tests after that. I think Dr T wasn't even really evaluating the patients. OK. A 23 year old with chest pain probably is just indigestion or acid reflux but a cardiac proteins test should be done for verification of the EKG.

Last thing. I was scanning the list of complaints of patients from the previous day. A 20 something guy came to the ER because he was bitten by a bat. An older couple and what I assume is their grandkid ALSO came to the ER because they were "exposed to bat". Are you serious? They didn't get bitten but they saw it and had to come to the ER. *Rolls eyes* (We used to catch them. They'd get in the house through a hole in the eaves. Mom or Dad would knock them down with the broom so one of us could scoop it into a bowl and dustpan combination. They'd make mom scream so I always thought it was funny. They were so cute and scared. Yeah, I've never been afraid of most critters.)

Will have another pendant to post tomorrow.

health, work, sleep, dad, car
