I've uploaded another classic ol' blast from the past to YouTube from the Ragzdandelion archivez.
This one being a 1989 performance by my old band STRICTLY TABOO doin' the screechy sing along earshredder "Feeding The Kitty", a song written by the guitarist with ten fingers-Randy Chandler and myself.
There'z alotta memoriez attached to this gig. One being that it waz the last STRICTLY TABOO show we ever did. After this gig Randy left and the rest of us puttered on trying to find a replacement but the momentum of the band sputtered out like the last dropz of Aqua Net in the big purple can. We were all going thru some changez and eventually we went thee way of many of the big haired rockomuffinz.
But it waz a fun show, a good send off to a band that made many of my dreamz come true and then some.
Some other points to share-
*Dig the big pole in the middle of the stage, holding up the humongous tent we were under. It seemed like the big pole waz alwayz a staple of our varied performances, there waz alwayz one in front of the stages we played under tents. In the basements we played at, whether it be The Zuma Room or The Psychedelic Dungeon or The Thundercave, there waz alwayz a pole in front of us. It waz almost like part of our schtick. I utilized the weight bearing poles many times, swinging and sliding 'round n' round them like a mad stripper, but frankly, it woulda been nice if once, just once one of our glorious Slutpuppies woulda taken to it instead, making our showz all the much better.
*Do bandz still play under big top tents at county fairs theze dayz?
*That's Brad Caszat on bass and Roy Miller on drums. I alwayz dug Brad's hair. Roy could make a freekin' mean ass breakfast! Yum!
*Our original bass player-Shawn Colton-ran the lights for us that day. Freddie Zen Halen filmed it.They both did The Shirt Dance in front of me while another gang of misfits headbanged in front of Randy during another song in the show. Maybe someday I will explain The Shirt Dance to ya.
*This waz probably the biggest stage we ever played on. Maybe cuz it waz under a tent and at a county fair, but there were bailz o' hay all over the place and Brad,Roy,Shawn and I all smoked cigz under it throughout the whole show. I'm amazed to this day that with all the Aqua Net and hay we didn't burn the Big Top down.
*The day before this gig a guy at the window factory that I worked at cut his thumb off in a bandsaw. That image replayed itself over and over in my head through-out the whole show, I just couldn't shake the screech the guy made from my noggin'. When we did a song called "Bonesaw" during the show, I especially found the images to be extra vivid in my mind.
*I finally threw away the green and black spandex a few yearz ago. The holes got larger in it,the butt got baggier and my waistline got bigger.
*All the great people from Taboo's four year history waz there, former band members, girlfiends, other bands, family and even a few enemies.
*I miss them all intensely.
So here ya go,from 1989 in a far away place in Michigan, when hair waz big and rock waz sleazy. I give you-

ENJOY!
