St. Birgitta's Cap Display
Originally uploaded by Ragnvaeig. This is a lot harder than it looks.

Through Freecycle, I managed to come up with a styrofoam head form to display my Birgitta's cap; unfortunately, it is nowhere near the size of my big, giant head, so I'm having to improvise in order to get it to look right.

I've covered the head in fabric, first to make it look less obtrusively modern and second to raise the coefficient of friction so the cap has something to grip. Over the fabric, I've added some wool roving to attempt to enlarge the dimensions and simulate the fullness of tucking my hair under the cap. I've stuck the cap on as best I can, but it's still looking a little...lackluster.

I may try enlarging the dimensions of the head underneath the fabric, though I'm not quite sure how I'll do that.

ETA: I think I may have got it!

In addition to adding some linen padding under the blue cover, I've pinned the roving to the back of the head with straight pins. I think this is my most natural look so far.
