Written in bubbly, excited letters in a leatherbound book. There are drawings all over the page-- hearts and sharks, creepy looking trees. The page is stained, here and there, with ale and something a dark, russet color.

Maddock is semi propped up in the hospital bed. His left leg hangs in traction and his right arm is immobilized by sturdy bandages.
