Wassssuuuuppp.

I am currently sitting on the Reid lawn like a boss, enjoying the sunshine and hoping someone I know will walk past, see me, and say hi (/bye). There are three hours before the Panto casting/readthrough meeting, and two hours before I said I'd meet Sam and Adam (the directors) either to record my part (I'm the starship's PA system) or to figure out how to record my part in the near future. My computer's mic might be enough, but it might not. Idk where I'm supposedly meeting them, or if they've remembered to meet me, but I'm not really stressing about it.

Today has been pretty great. I woke up at 9ish, (after going to sleep before 1am, AND BEFORE EVERYBODY ELSE HAD LEFT PANTOCHAT. THAT NEVER HAPPENS. I was feeling sickish) feeling sickish, internetted for a bit before deciding to call the italian consulate at 9:30 to see whether/when my Visa was/would be ready. They said they'd email me when it was ready, and that it would be after 10 working days after applying. It's been 13, and I hadn't gotten an email, so I rang, and yes apparently it was ready. Thanks. So I hauled ass out of bed to go into the city to take the CAT bus to the consulate. Accidentally got off a stop late, but they're really close so it didn't matter. Nobody else was at the consulate so I didn't have to wait very long. Picked up the Visa along with my other documents which had all been duly photocopied and certified, so that was nice.

Then chose one of the many cafes on the intersection upon which the consulate exists at which to have breakfast and coffee. They're all expensive but the guy at the first one I walked into was glaring at me in a friendly but expectant manner and started telling me specials as soon as I walked in, so I felt sort of obliged to stay. It was 15 minutes after the breakfast menu was meant to end, but apparently they were still serving it, so I just bought a plain croissant and a coffee. I've been eating a lot of croissants lately. This one was really good, and I consumed it whilst sitting next to some fish, so it was especially good. Also I was reading Deathly Hallows. I'm getting toward the end so it's all very exciting and tragic.

CATted back into the city. Decided to get off at the stop near Dad's work, as I was expecting him to call me so we could go and vote (the Federal Election is happening whilst we're away so we have to vote early) before I had to be at uni. Sat on a bench and read whilst waiting for 15 minutes, then decided it was too late, so walked to catch a bus into uni. Dad finally called as I was walking so I was all "lolsry too late call me at 2:30 and we'll vote then"

Got to uni 10 minutes early for my chat with Caitlin, a girl who has just gotten back from a semester's exchange at UCSC (the Milan uni I'm going to. Keep up.) She got a Guild coffee and I was all "Wow is that really underwhelming after six months of Italian coffee?" and she was all "OH GOD YEEESSSSSS DDDDD:" She was really nice and helpful and reassuring and gave me good pointers on all sorts of things. "Don't turn right at the Metro stop near your apartment after dark". She was staying in the same apartment as I'll be in, so it was especially useful. Apparently the landlord, Stefano, needs to be TOLD to fix things, not asked. Handy!

Got on a bus to go back into the city to meet Dad at the Early Voting place. I knew the address, and how to get to the street, but didn't know how far along it the building was. It ended up being right on the corner of the street I was approaching it from, so that was awesome. Sat on the steps reading about Harry not dying til Dad came. Voting was fun. The polling officials were all lovely old people who were super friendly and enthusiastic. Though the guy who gave me my ballot papers and explained to me how to fill them in was a little condescending. He explained above- and below-the-line voting for the Upper House, and then was all "I know which one you'll be doing heh heh" because apparently writing the numbers 1-55 is too complex a task for the puny minds of young Australian voters. I totally voted below the line. This was my strategy: Greens first, Democrats second, all other small parties I respect/don't care about next (ordered based on left-right placement on the paper), Labor, all small parties I don't respect, then Liberals and Nationals together. Dad voted below the line too, in much the same way, because our family is awesome.

Thennn Dad and I got a coffee and sammich and cake at a cafe he likes (it was good) and then I headed to the bus stop again to come *back* to uni, to photograph things for the purposes of nostalgia and showing off. I kept taking photos out of the bus window. I think I was annoying the person next to me but IIIII don't caaaaare. Damned if I'm going to be deprived of the view of the river on the way to uni. *sob*. Took some shots that I think will turn out really nicely. I will share them with you when I get home.

There is a group of six Asian girls who appear to be some sort of choir sitting near me and rehearsing softly. It is nice. I like this uni.

Nobody's come to say hi to me yet. But Ellie spotted me out of the window of the library where she is studying, so we had a nice waving moment. I still have at least an hour and a half to kill (and not that much battery time on my laptop). Hrm.
