"The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra": Exclusive First Look
So we've seen Korra's face at last!

The only bit that worries me is the supposed 2012 release date and the title being "The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra."

Little too long, a little too "movie" for my own taste, and far too long to wait to finally see Korra's adventures.

Author of the article says more details will be coming up tomorrow, so we'll stay tuned!

UPDATE, THE SECOND:

"The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra": The Creators Speak
Speakeasy continues it's coverage of the upcoming sequel-series in a interview with creators, Mike and Bryan!

Some key highlights:

* Nickelodeon had picked up “Korra” for 12 episodes but recently decided to order 14 more shows. “When we first starting talking to Nickelodeon about doing a new series in the ‘Avatar’ world, they asked if we could do shorter arcs-more like a show like ‘24’where there’s a specific villain or challenge for that particular season,” Konietzko says.
________

Q:  Tell me about the heroine of the story, Korra. What’s she like?

DiMartino: Korra, we kind of describe her as a fiery waterbender. She’s very pugnacious. Kind of in your face. ---she’s very tough, very headstrong, not scared to get into a fight, and kind of picks fights with people too sometimes.---

Konietzko: ---she’s also funny and has a lot of charm and vulnerability because she’s still growing up and trying to figure things out.---
________

Q:  Have you heard anything about whether there will be a sequel to the “Last Airbender” live-action feature film?

DiMartino: Uh, no. It’s definitely not up to us, so.

(I can't be the only person who chuckled at how Mike handled the movie question.)

All exciting news so far!  Not to toot our own horn, but Korra sounds like she'll be a fine (if tragically rare) example of a well written female PoC lead, and I personally can't wait for what comes next.
