He didn’t know why she did it. Maybe it was some vestige left over from when John was very young. Maybe she didn’t like to be completely shut in a room knowing there was no quick way out. Hell he couldn’t blame her. Even he always needed to know there was a way out, couldn’t blame her for wanting one. Whatever her reason for doing so; damned if it didn’t play at his mind.
To him Sarah Connor seemed like the sort of person who would completely want to shut and bolt the door of her bedroom, an inner sanctum for her where she didn’t have to face the steel reality of her life. Not let it leak into her dreams. Then again; she’d been doing this so long he guessed that her dreams were haunted with nothing else but harsh metal and scorching bombs.
But it still seemed odd. She’d threatened him that one and only time he’d ventured in. Even John knew the rules it seemed. Yet keeping that door open; even a fracture was an invitation. And it was just a fraction; enough to let a slight stream of light spill out when the light was on. But not enough to be able to see in. Enough for the mind to wonder why her light was on late into the night; yet he never heard her moving around. But yet swore he heard the click of guns being cocked.
