It's all the same:
"You learn something new every day."
"It's the small things in life" etc etc.
Boy is that true.
I'm working at Gilda's Club NYC this week, filling in for the receptionist. There's this man here, Vince, absolutely charming. He might be about 50 or so, really nice man. Nice tan, very jolly and raspy voiced. Mom tells me he's
homeless. He had cancer and he lost his job and benefits. That, plus all his payments for treatment meant that he had no money. He literally doesn't live anywhere. If it wasn't for Gilda's Club, I don't know where he would go.
So you would think he'd be depressed, run-out of luck type of guys. No. Instead, he spends money and makes food for the employees of Gilda's Club. He wrestles up money and makes himself excesses of pasta for himself and to provide for other people
I do definitely believe angels walk on this earth and I believe he is one of them. His father, grandfather and great grandfather all died at about 41-60 years of age from leukemia. He knows he doesn't have long and yet he's okay with it.
I mean, I'm sure he's depressed sometimes, feels bad for himself, but God he is amazing.
Here you are, bitching because you lost someone you love, because you did shitty in school, because
you don't have a summer job or have to take summer classes or don't know what you'll do after college.
Look at him.
Please, count your blessings.
There's always something to smile about.
