QR the student
Well I'm back and I'm still alive and in one piece. I forgot how much queueing was involved in enrolling. Pity I couldn't do like another Library Masters student at work and enrol online, I didn't even think it necessary before today.
It was a real round the tables go here, pick up this random piece of paper, do that and then stand on your head... maybe not the last but you get my meaning.
So off I pootle to my 'school's intro lecture, and we're last to go off to our course's talk only to be told that we're not having one, thanx to strike action. I didn't read it very clearly but it seemed to be about lack of london weighting on pay. Which seems weird as they're IN london and I get where I work which very much isn't.
I have to say despite the confusion I took this round pretty much in a blase done this before frame of mind. But i can't be sure that it wasn't a my brain doesn't work this early in the morning frame of mind!!
I met various really nice people on my course and lots of very sweet and innocent looking undergrads. They all look so young. And of course they ARE. Mind you the people on my course are a lot of them somewhat younger than I expected. I expected more types who worked in libraries for a while and want to upgrade to better pay and more interesting jobs. But I guess a lot of them will be the part timers on day release.
I'm feeling quite buoyant about the whole thing, except for the sensation of having way too much to do. I mean I was handed this freshers week timetable today and my lovely free weds and thurs have vanished along with most of the free time I was expecting tommorow :(
Ah well I'm still gonna fit in freshers fair and meeting feather and viola at some point.
...Dear God my father doesn't know how to wait. he asks for the phone line and can't wait for me to post this entry before he grabs the damn thing. !!!"£%£$^!¬!!!
Anyway I'm off to watch solaris on vid and then work my way thro my papers as best I can.
