lying liar who lies
I had my first sub job today instead of tomorrow--a half day with a class full of 1st graders. Elementary school subbing has been the biggest o___o thing for me, so I thought I'd get my feet wet with a half day, test the waters so to speak, get my footing.
I'm. Exhausted. The reason I didn't type this post up sooner was because I was having a hard time putting one letter in front of the other (and then answering asks on tumblr about Vikings, sorry about a lack of coherency there).
I won't go into too much detail, because they're kids, they deserve their privacy on the internet, but I will say one little weasel snuck out of class to use the bathroom without telling me, and another kid shockingly lost the lightsaber from his luke skywalker lego after throwing it around the room, and at one point I accidentally skipped over an entire assignment and let them color instead.
It's like watching a room full of puppies. And trying to teach them math.
At least now I know what to expect. (WHOEVER TOLD ME ALL ELEMENTARY SUBS DO IS WATCH MOVIES, YOU LIED TO ME. Every 10-20 minutes was something new and weird and complicated that wasn't explained in the subsheet and they get ANTSY. One girl asked me, "What if I get bored," like, "What if I got the PLAGUE and DIED.")
High school French tomorrow and the next two days. J'ai besoin d'un nap. My legs hurt. The only bag I have big enough to haul my shit is a tote with Merida from Brave plastered all over it. Wah wah wah wah.
