Timeline - Day 49

May 20, 2010 12:28

Doyleton, teleportation, and Three Wolf Moon.

(Still backthreading some of this as of this post; better summaries coming later.)

Bus 3: Keman: To his dismay, L finds himself in highly questionable attire (although it's really not much worse than Abe's "I'm on a boat!" shirt). Zombies are under discussion.

Morning: Main Street: Howl:
- L isn't as worried about a possible repetition of the zombie situation as some people are, because the timeline suggests that there's an overwhelming chance that major freak occurrences won't happen twice. The zombies have been explained as a resurrection spell that went awry, so it seems unlikely that it would be attempted again so soon, particularly after the week's events.
- L notes that Howl's seatmate on the bus was Homura, someone who L is both curious about and wary of.
- He thinks it's ridiculous and illogical that any of the townspeople would hold the patients responsible for the vandalism.
- He speculates on how to get the townspeople to talk to him: an attempt to appear normal is the most likely to be fruitful.
- He gives in to the urge to chew on his fingertips, which he's spent the entire past week trying to suppress because of the communal environment at the Institute. Howl's immediate response to the gesture is to carp at him.
- Offstage: plans to go pump the locals for information in the beauty salon were discarded in favor of simply walking around for a few hours and checking everything out. At some point, L stopped in Tasty Burger, redeemed his coupon for a Tasty Meal, and threw away everything but the ice cream, which he ate with relish.

Noon: ???: Howl & The Rebel: Meeting Marc The Rebel. Howl and L duck into the abandoned building for several reasons: it doesn't fit the look of the rest of the surrounding area (therefore, Howl thinks it's a glitch in the magical programming), it's probably not too unsafe to investigate, and the nurses aren't looking, so they can get away with it. They find Marc The Rebel inside, and talk to him for a while. L wonders about Landel's level of personal interest in Marc, and questions Marc's motivations. (His suspicion is that Marc might be Doyle's brother, but for various reasons, he elects not to ask outright. He will operate on the assumption that it's a possibility.)

Early Afternoon: Callahan's Grocer: Venkman: An unexpected run-in in the grocery store. Doctor and patient annoy each other, and L is able to confirm for himself that the Institute's doctor's live in Doyleton.

Late Afternoon: Twin Pines Restaurant: Faith Lehane: L meets Faith, who is both flirty and rough around the edges. They talk zombies. He also gets his first cup of coffee in a week.

Evening: Bus 2: Lunge: L learns about Lunge's experience as a victim of the "CM-US Trials" and speculates, due to Lunge's memory loss, that amnesic shellfish poisoning could have played a part (he expands this theory to include the "real life" events of Day 45). However, he acknowledges that the pieces don't quite fit, and that his theory is, at best, a starting point. He is frustrated about what happened to Lunge, but also internally excited about it, because more clues are the end result.

Dinner: Abe Sapien: Skipped this shift. IC-ly, L and Abe would have caught up on their day.

Night Shift: Portal Event!

M25:
West Wing, South Hall 1-A: Speculation about meaning of Intercom announcements, meeting up with Lunge.
Stairwell by Waiting Room/Lobby 1: Concerns about being attacked on the stairs and about how well Lunge will deal with passing near the site of his torture. The usual speculation about Landel's motivations.
Main Hallway 2-West: A panicking, PTSD-affected Lunge barrels through with blinders on, trying not to betray any trauma. L raises his eyebrows, shrugs, and follows.
West Wing, South Hall 2-B:
- Awareness and discomfort related to M-U hall proximity.
- Lunge isn't doing well, but he might be doing a lot worse, under the circumstances.
- Some discussion of the meeting: there was general agreement, with a few objections from Indiana Jones.

Portal rolls begin here.

Sphinx's Chamber (Basement): INKSTAND. L and Lunge get a coliseum shield. L doesn't like the implications of the sphinx's captivity.
General Storage (2nd Floor): Loot loot loot loot loot loot loot (medical edition)
Bill's Hardware (Doyleton): loot loot loot loot loot loot loot (weapons edition)
Homeworld - L's Task Force Headquarters (Tokyo): ?! (This thread didn't get played out as far as it was supposed to, because of some IRL stuff Lunge-mun had to deal with, so at some later date, I'll summarize what should have happened. Essentially, after establishing that the recordings all stop at the time L disappeared, he went around the room and other parts of the building looking for stuff. He tried to keep several things with him on the sofa in the work room--a MacBook, a thermos bottle of coffee, some packages of cookies, and most importantly, the gun he'd had in the helicopter--but woke up with only the gun and five bullets.)

Needs to talk to:
N/A, but make bulletin posts about:
- Amnesic shellfish poisoning (domoic acid, modified toxins)
- The possible location of the Sphinx

Bulletin Posts:

Note: this is the bulletin board in Callahan's.

Replied or Noted:

Team Lars Check-In: Disguised childish writing. Lunge lets L know that he survived, but could be doing better.
Word games with Grell: I neglected to say so, but this should have been in the undisguised block handwriting associated with "Ryuuzaki".
Chise has a list for Lelouch: Noted. What list?
Scott Pilgrim is curious: Noted. Talk of the vandalism and what to do if zombies show up. Indy makes an appearance.
