The blackbirds of 221B for aderyn8 (she wrote another story!).

I love this fandom. While some Sherlock fans are getting all totally excited about the imminent recording of the new episodes, some of us were just carrying on with what we are good at. Nothing to see here - time to move along.

This last weekend I was actually spending some time in North Gower Street in London, partly there to take a copy of my article from MediaMagazine to deliver to Chris Georgiou at Speedy's. There was some proper location hunting done very nearby while I was on site, and then I stood watching the general hullabaloo outside the cafe and taking photos. I went back again a couple of times when it was quieter too. I'll post those photos when I have time (there were a few things learnt which I think fans should be aware of) and some of the snaps taken on Saturday were of the pair of blackbirds. Those two were singing their hearts out in the trees beside the gardens behind the home of Sherlocks Holmes!

While I was doing all that aderyn8was doing what she is good at - writing fiction.

She loves birds and has already written a story influenced by my Sherlock cemetery birding meta and impulsereader made a beautiful Christmas present of it for me using my photos. It hangs on the walls in my flat in Lowestoft. If you click on these photos and get them nice and big you should even be able to read the story. If not the link to AO3 is here.

Here is Mr Blackbird on a tree

These are the gardens behind the row of houses and to the right is the tree he was sitting singing in.

This is Mrs Blackbird who was alarm calling from a bush nearby. I am sure she was looking for somewhere away from the crowds of fans to make a nest.

That tree that Mr B is in looks like it's about to burst into leaf. I think it's a Whitebeam. This winter is taking too long to move on too - we need blossom and warmth in a hurry.

If you'd like to read the story written for me in response to these new birds (aderyn8 never rests!) it's here:
