Committing voter fraud

So, I had long given up on being able to register in Houston in time to vote. Then, last week I got a jury summons for the city of Houston. It was sent to m,y parents' address.

Apparently Houston never caught on that I'd left town almost eight years ago. The last address they had for me was from when we lived with my parents for a few months before moving to CA. California didn't tell them I'd surrendered my license and gotten a job on the coast. My father even noticed my name was still on the voter roles for the Montrose voting location on Waugh Dr. I called the city and explained that I'd been given a jury summons in error, since I was registered to vote in CA, and didn't even have a TX license.

They didn't care. They told me if I was currently in Houston, and had received a jury summons in my name, I needed to appear. Well, heck, if they're gonna make me serve in this city then I get to vote here damnit! I didn't have a voter's cert., or a sample ballot, but I did have an out of state license, and a copy of my jury summons, and that was enough to convince the poll workers that I was allowed to vote there!

I'm not sure if I committed voter fraud, or if I did the right thing.

crime, jury duty, politics
