A tiny crack

My car situation has gotten rather dire. It needs its first oil change. It needs to go in for a Honda recall check, and possible chip replacements. It needs a good washing badly, and it needs to be inspected so that it can be registered in Texas.

Sadly I don't think it will pass inspection. A tiny rock hit out windscreen on the freeway this weekend. The initial crack was a small *. Today it suddenly expanded to a several inch long crack that goes from the bottom of the screen all the way to the middle. I guess we need to make an insurance claim, and get the glass repaired. Normally I'd do it out of pocket, but the glass has custom trim printed onto it. I think we'll need to get a replacement from Honda to keep the insurance on the up and up.

It's always something.

Scott McCloud's new book on making comics got my creative juices going. I finally broke down and bought some brush pens, and started practicing doing comic inking with a synthetic brush instead of a technical pen. I could be a good artist, but I have a very aggressive grip, and press pretty hard into paper when I draw. I can't use brushes without ruining them. Technical pen looks the same no matter what pressure you use, so I've tended to rely on them when making comics. This has given my work a 'airline escape plan' look: very clinical. The brush gives my work a more Sam Hurt-esque look. It's very weird feeling to me. Hopefully I'll finds the time to finish my novel so I can start playing around with comics again.
