oh, fandom...don't ever change
thank you, biichan, for pointing me to this mind-blowing henhouse flap over something somebody read that steven moffat might have said somewhere at some point, maybe.
when i first read this i thought they had to be taking the piss...seriously, it's such a weirdly perfect platonic ideal of the fandom telephone/extrapolation game. at least with rtd, people have the excuse of judging from past experience, but we have yet to see a single moffat-era episode here. my personal favorites are the commenter who thinks that eleven forgetting ROSE would somehow be EVEN MORE CATASTROPHIC than forgetting the two previous versions of himself (you can tell by their expressive use of ALLCAPS), and the person who doesn't think the bbc will let big bad nasty moff 'kill off' ten (er...you do understand what 'regeneration' entails, right?)...who then goes on to make the fascinating leap of logical hopscotch to infer by this rumor that moffat is out to kill ALL SHIPS EVAR. damn those pesty four/sarah jane shippers and their oppressive fandom entitlement! i mean, srsly....'wtf?' doesn't even begin to cover it.
of course, i could go there and dare to suggest that if moffat did actually say such a thing, it might possibly perhaps have been sarcastic or tongue-in-cheek...in other words, a joke. but no. that would be thinking. and the rest of it could probably be disproved by, you know, finding the actual magazine in question and digging up the actual quote the OP ('s friend who supposedly read it first) was referencing...but somehow, i don't really want to. watching the chickens flap and the feathers fly is far too bloody entertaining. :)
...and now i'm actually kind of hoping the rumor is true. dammit. if for no other reason than to see the poor deprived po-faced chippers IMPLODE under the weight of their own wank.

wondering if the new staff will have to put up a 'do not poke the fen' sign in moffat's office to keep him from saying stuff like that, just to watch the resulting uproar / see how many people actually believe him
