I bought kayaks this weekend. We got a
Necky Manitou and a
Old Town Cayuga - they’re both about 13 feet, which puts them in the “single day touring” category, but still pretty close to recreational length. Their size means that they can be used in still water, gentle rapids, or costal ocean conditions. They’re very versatile and durable, and I can’t fucking wait to take them out. The best part? Saved about $350 because of the anniversary sale at REI. Work extended benefits pays for $1800 of it. In the end, I’ll only end up shelling out around $300 out of pocket for these - just the tax taken off the reimbursement from work. SO excellent.
I had a great time at the renfaire yesterday, and only managed to get a little sunburned. I drank rum from my awesome glass hip bottle, I ate a turkey leg the size of my face, I got asked if I worked there because my costume was so awesome, I bought a new ear cuff and an adorable new crop-topped corsetly thing. I also got identified as one of the biggest geeks at the Tortuga Twins R rated show (it wasn’t my fault - they made fun of Red Shirted Ensigns and had a Glove of +5 Dueling) and then got hit on by one of their group. All in all a very entertainingly successful day. The couple of pictures I took will be up shortly.
Dancing has been fabulous lately... I never thought I would be so into blues, but damn do I love it. A lot. Last week I was taking training, so I was able to stay out late and then sleep in, which I put to good use. I think due to monetary constraints and my new found addiction I’m going to do Buenos Aires Blues, rather than Big Big Event... sad for visiting a Yael, but much nicer on my wallet (which is already over-taxed, re: kayaks and work asshattery).
Oh, and I might have accidentally acquired a kitten. Then plan is to take care of him until we can find him a permanent home... we’ll see how that goes. So if you want a really adorable cat, please do drop me a line. I’ll take lots of pictures when he gets transferred to my place from a friend’s on Wednesday... initial impression is that he couldn’t be more adorable. Also already litter-box trained and super playful/talkative.
Right. Things - check! Dancing - check! Balls of fuzz - check! Hmm. I’m still pretty annoyed with work, but less with the abject rage now. Hooray.
