I'm sitting here at Cup A Joe's. My bagel is gone, my coffee cup is empty, and I just don't want to get up and get on the road. It's a lovely day, sunny and bright but much cooler than yesterday. For once the cold front waited to show up until the weekend was nearly over.
My nose and cheeks are sunburnt. Yesterday was a beautiful day. We had really good crowds at NCRF, and there was no rain to chase them away in the afternoon. I did well, everybody seemed to do well. My sales and tips were the highest for this year's festival. Unfortunately, that's not saying much -- looking back at previous years the difference is obvious and a bit depressing -- the bad weather had a major impact on my earnings.
On the other hand, what money I did make I wouldn't have made just sitting at home. And having a place to stay kept my costs down. And as always, it was great to see friends whom I rarely get to see.
Last night some of us performers and rennies congregated at Tir Na Nog for a low-key dinner. I had beer cheese soup and cottage pie. SO good. I was happy knowing that the campground was nearly empty so there'd be very few people traipsing in and out of the building to use the bathroom. Which was true. But I still got woken up at 4:45 in the morning by one noisy camper using the bathroom, noisily. I am DONE with sleeping in that building. NEVER AGAIN.
At least the festival ended with a really nice day.
