For those of you who are in Super Tuesday states, I am begging you... GO VOTE. Never in my memory have we had a race like this one, wide open between candidates on both sides. They're talking about how both nominees might wind up being decided in the convention, a far cry from Kerry's fast march to victory four years ago.
YOUR VOTES COUNT. Yes, your single vote, it counts. Yes, even yours. Clinton and Obama are in a dead heat in almost every Super Tuesday state. They are going to need every delegate they can lay their hands on -- and because of the way that the democrats assign delegates (you get them in proportion to what percentage of the state you win), every vote is going to be very, very important. McCain is pulling ahead of Romney, but not so much that he couldn't be seriously upset if Romney wins enough delegate-rich states. He's pulling ahead in California, which surprises the hell out of me, and if he wins the republican primary here, and makes a decent showing elsewhere, he'll still be in the race. And these four candidates stand for very, very different things. So get your ass out there and VOTE.
As for me, y'all know where my vote is going. I feel that Hillary Clinton has betrayed and used every belief that I hold dear. She's unelectable, especially against John McCain, who will draw all of the independant and undecided voters who Hillary can't seem to reach. The conservatives will turn out in force against her in the general election because she's such a target of hatred. Whereas Obama's charisma will pull independants to his side, and he's not as hated a figure, which means that a general distaste for the Republican nominee will probably leave a good portion of 'pubs at home.
So anyway, in case you didn't get the point yet: VOTE! This is your chance to actually influence the election.
(As an aside, all you youngins who complain that the system is broken and no one represents you? Now's your chance to have your voice heard. A lot of people who've never voted before are turning out in the primaries this year, and if enough of us 20 and 30somethings start voting, then we will be listened to, because we will have the power to kick people out of office if they don't start with the pandering. Which is another reason to GO VOTE!)
Anyway, that's all I've got to say.
Except: VOTE!
