I came thisclose to getting broadsided tonight by some asshat who thought it was ok to pull out of a parking lot and cross three lanes at once. Had it not been for the fact that I was just about to get into a turn lane, giving me a few extra inches to swerve to the left, my mom might have been seriously injured. So my car was fixed today. Turns out it just needed a new distributor cap and rotor, and it ended up costing me $170. Much more than I would have had to spend had I known that was the problem (those parts are fairly cheap and easy to replace)--but also a hell of a lot cheaper than $450 or $700!

Just kidding. My car doesn't need a distributor, it needs a new ECM (i.e. the computer)! And it only costs $700-ish instead of $550! And it'll be fixed at the end of the week instead of this afternoon, so I'll have to rent a car! And maybe then they'll decide again that there's another problem entirely ( Read more... )

It's like clockwork--I get some extra cash and something expensive happens, usually having to do with my car. I can't ever seem to get ahead.

My car broke down (while I was driving) on the way home from set-building for the play today. It just stopped going at about 40mph, and I almost got rear-ended. My dad came to check it out and it's apparently a gas problem of some sort. R.I.P. little Jam Mobile III.

The engine problem that made my car shake violently ever since I got it was finally fixed yesterday. Well, it actually turned out to be a dirty fuel injector. The mechanic cleaned it and now my car is no longer shaking, but rather layin' it on a flat surface like a Polaroid picture. ;) Plus, it actually makes it up a hill now.
