With every new day, we are falling deeper into the holiday season.
Already, a scarf is required for outside excursions. In the morning my glasses fog when I board the train, and all I can hear from old and young alike is the excited discussion of presents for loved ones. People fight for space with bags stretched thin with presents and wrapping paper.
The short days make it dark when I leave and when I come home, but there are already fairy lights twinkling their way across the city, glowing at my window.
All of it serves to make me think, in the spirit of this time of year, and with great sentimentality:
THIS SEASON IS THE MOST COMMON SEASON FOR SUICIDES.
