Having just finished reading the new Top Ten Book*, Top Ten: The Fourty Niners (which was smashing, best of the series in my opinion, but then I am a utter sucker for period pieces, Leni was awesome and the romance made me smushy - I'm not sure that anyone on my list has any idea what I'm talking about, but on the off chance you do, its the first meeting of the people from the end of book 2 - and it compelled me to go back and read the first two books) so naturally I had to icon in my continuing quest to fill the 100.
But the icon isn't Forty Niners, its Jack Phantom from the regular series, who is lovely and a lesbian and has phasing powers.

* Top Ten is by Alan Moore, who wrote From Hell and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (both of which spawned rather strange movies fairly unlike their sources, although From Hell isn't nearly as bad as the other). Top Ten itself is cop story, where all the cops are superheroes (although Moore, rather fantastically, likes to call them science heroes) and live in a city called Neopolis which was built after the second World War to house all of the science heroes in the States (who were brought there through an apparently somewhat forcible relocation). The Forty Niners takes place in the first year (1949)or so of the city's founding.
