Year in Review 2009

Kathryn, I'm copying you again this year. :)

January: I hit my one year mark at GBHS, even if the first half was student teaching. What a crazy first year that was.

February: I was honored by standing up in Cynthia and Jason's wedding, one of the craziest weddings Ive been to. Scott got to meet a lot of people from high school for the first time.

March: Not too much exciting this month. Lots of teaching and working. Scott stopped traveling so much for awhile, which was nice. And we got ready for our cruise!

April: Scott and I went on our cruise this month. We went to New Orleans and Mexico, swam with dolphins, played on the water slides, ate our hearts out, drank a bit, and hiked some Mayan Ruins. An all around amazing trip. I made my final decision to start grad school in the fall.

May: This was the month that my best CMU girlfriend got married! It was amazing and perfect, everythign fromt he rehersal to the bus ride home (where I worried about how the bride and groom were going to make it!) I said goodbye to my first batch of seniors at the end of this month, something I wasn't expecting to be so difficult! Now they are all away at college and a few stopped to visit last week... so grown up!

June: I offically completed what many say is the hardest year of your life--the first year of teaching. Sometimes I feel like I've been there for my whole life while other days I could sweat I just walked in the door yesterday. It felt great. Afterward, I wenton a work trip with Scott and enjoyed both of our birthdays (his with a super awesome surprise party!)

July: Scott started traveling a lot again in the summer, but we found time to do some fun things together: drive in movies, kayak day, camping in tawas, tiger's games, lots of trips to visit his family and days on my lake.

August: As the summer came to a close, I went on a few last trips, including our annual U.P. girl's trip (plus a few extras this year). Brian and I finally jumped off the rock we had been talking about for years. As it got closer, I spent a lot of time prepping my classroom for the start of a new year and anxiously awaited the start of my first grad class. Also, Scott and I both got to be in our close friends' (Amber and Ryan) wedding. It was an awesome mix of high school and college friends, and we loved every minute of it.

September: Started my second offial year of teaching with new students. I was terrified they weren't going to be as awesome as mine were last year, but I quickly realized they are amazing! I think I will feel like this every year. I, unfortunately, got very sick this month too. Scott stopped traveling completely because, well, the job was terminated. Boo.

October: Nothing too exciting... some fun fall things--Scott and I corn mazed, cider drank, pumpkin carved, seed baked, candy passed, and more. It was fun. I also graded a lot of essays. Woo.

November: A great month with lots of family and friends. Thanksgiving was great because we got to see both of our families plus my favorite Hastings girls the night before. Right after the holiday, Scott was offered a new job (a great job)! :)

December: Finished my first grad class with an 'A'. GO me! :) Scott and I also made the final decision to move in together in the new year. YAHOO! We're moving mid January, and I just can't wait for all the fun that is to come with this move. A year has made us more in love and stronger in love, and I can't wait to see what 2010 brings!
