Thoughts.

Maddy asked me what I thought of ep 5, but of course by the time I got around to answering her I had watched all the way up to 10, so I thought I would just give a rundown of the things that stuck out at me from 5-10.

What I liked about 5:
- The opening!
- Merlin healing Morgana because of how her death would have affected everyone else, not because "there's still good in her." As Padme would tell you, saying this could very well mean you are about to die.
- The A/G bit was lovely, and I loved the bit with Arthur and Merlin in the rain, and I especially loved the Uther and Merlin scene. I love it whenever they have a scene because Merlin helps Uther so much more than he deserves and I think it says a lot about his character - that he's just extremely kind and loving, which is why he turned out so good, whereas someone like Morgana, whose first instinct is to fight rather than help, did not.
What I didn't like:
- "I haven't changed anything!" What exactly did you think was going to happen when you healed the person who's trying to kill the king, genius?
Other:
- Morgana being Uther's daughter threw me a bit. I wasn't too spoiled for this ep (surprising as it is) so I didn't see it coming. I haven't decided whether I like it or not.

What I liked about 6:
- Elena's wedding dress. :O *want*
- Arthur & Gwen's conversation about being insane. (Crying!Arthur=Crying!Lanni)
- Gwen's hateful pouting during the wedding. For some reason this made me very 'you go girl.'
- "I brought you your ceremonial sword." "Is that for me to fall on?" XD
- "I think you're mad. I think you're all mad." :D I heart Merlin.
- The Return of the Zapifier. OH YES. The Zapifier is awesome. (I do, of course, mean the magic!staff). Mostly cuz any other one-story-per-episode show would have forgotten about that. I await the return of the 2.12 Sword.
What I didn't like:
- Grunhilda. *shudder* Everything about her was gross. My brothers and I yelled ew! so many times...

What I liked about 7:
- Concerned!Merlin is adorable. :)
- Cenred is actually not a bad villian, I have decided.
- "Any ideas?" "Just this one." *shove* Haha, revenge for Lancelot and Guinevere!
- Elyan being pretty much a washup, and the reference to 1.12. Covering up plotholes FTW!
- Merlin & Morgana in the woods. (Lol, "Wolves!"), and Morgana's mention of poison. Though if I were Merlin I might have mentioned that I had also poisoned Arthur and Gaius and neither of them were trying to take over the world because of it.
- Merlin pwning that lackey in the dungeons and Arthur being impressed.
What I didn't like:
- Why did neither Gwen nor Merlin have swords? I mean, Merlin's about as useless/ful with or without one, but Gwen kicks serious butt. She needed a sword.
- Morgana, Cenred & Morgause got a pile of bricks dumped on their brains and Morgana recovered immediately. Oh really. Though, without that, they wouldn't have had her yell at Arthur for carrying her and Merlin being pleased. :D
Other:
- I am undecided on my opinion of evil!Morgana in this ep. On one hand, why would she go after Gwen all of a sudden? But on the other, I feel like everything about her changed when she realized she had a for-reals claim to the throne.

What I liked about 8:
- Gwainnnnnne.... Need I say more?
Well, yes:
- Gwen found out about Morgana! I like this because Gwen is the only one among them with a brain and it only makes sense that she would find out. Though why she doesn't know about Merlin yet is beyond me. (You know, I don't think she suspects he's got magic, but I don't think she'd actually be very surprised if she found out.)
- "I've been to every tavern..." "So have I." (My brother figured out who Gwaine reminds us of! HAN SOLO. This is why he's awesome.)
- "Pheasant. Big one." ... "That was at least 3 pheasants."
- Oh, and the beginning with Gwen and Merlin. Merlin ships A/G as hard as any of us fangirls.
What I didn't like:
- Gwaine's excuse for being there was totally lame. If he had an excuse at all, which I don't think he did. Not that he needs an excuse, really. I mean, I didn't mind his being there. :D
- Why didn't Merlin just follow Arthur and steal the Bracelet of Death while he was asleep?
Other:
- I had a huge complicated theory for the magic water having to do with Freya coming back, but I won't put it in writing because it's probably wrong. I explained it to my brothers, and when they were skeptical, I said: "Just you wait. What I have said will come to pass."
- Merlin now has a magic!book, a magic!staff, a magic!sword and magic!water hiding under his floorboards.

What I liked about 9:
- Merlin's comment about the dungeons being soooo secure. Anyone else feel like this show mocks itself? XD
- Ha!! Poison again!!!
- "Do your supplies usually kiss you?" "You followed me!" "What's her name?" :D How do I love thee, Merlin? Let me count the ways.
- Arthur's big freakin' hammer.
- "How's punching my arm supposed to make me feel better?" "It works with the knights." "Well, they're thick aren't they?" "I'm a knight."
- This part.
- I really liked Arthur and Merlin and Merlin and Gaius in this one. Because Merlin usually gets his advice from Gaius and fights with Arthur, but this was a sort of role reversal and I thought it was cool.
Other:
- Poor Gaius. :( His luck is almost as bad as Merlin's. Almost.

What I liked about 10:
- LIEK EVERYTHING, HOLY CRAP.
- Arthur (and Gwen, but mostly Arthur) being awesome. The "I'll always love you!" part! GOSH. It was awesomely epic and epically awesome.
- Merlin and Gwen BFFery. When he said she looked lovely, I was all 'D'AWWW!' and my brothers were like *snicker* 'what a dork'. I'm not sure if they were talking about me or Merlin.
- Arthur checking himself out with the silver plate. XD
- Morgana's what-in-the-name-of-all-that-is-good-and-decent-is-going-on-look.
- But most of all: Old!Merlin!!! Holy moly, Colin Morgan is THE Greatest.
- "You have caught me redhanded!" "Dragoon! The Great!" "I wouldn't do THAT if I were you because if you do THAT..." "That's why you can't run me through!" XD XD XD Oh, gosh, we were laughing so hard we couldn't breathe. (sgmajorshipper, I see what you meant about crack.)
What I didn't like:
- That it had to end at some point.
- It did.
- Also, would it have killed them to give old!Merlin a pointy blue hat? Or even just a pointy hat? Really? I so want him to get a pointy hat.

The one problem with all these episodes: Not enough Sir Leon!!
The up-side to said problem: Also not much Dragon. The Dragon is an old square.

I've realized that my brothers and I yell 'GET SOME!' a lot while watching this show. Actually, we just generally yell at the characters a lot. And two nights ago, one of them said suddenly, "WHOA! So Morgana is like, Morgan le Fay?"

O_o I just... I just can't.

When I recovered my powers of speech, I asked him where his brain was and who he's thought she was for the last 3 seasons, Guinevere? Even my older brother who doesn't watch it figured that much out. I'd say at least there's hope for the other little brother but he came downstairs twenty minutes later asking if my mom and I had ever tried to fit our heads in our pant legs before because "it totally works!" Yes, he was wearing his pants on his head. Somedays I think I get boys. Then there are other days.

I'm gonna be so sad when they finally kill off Uther, which I suppose they must do eventually. I don't necessarily like him, but he's such a good character.

I'm also gonna be sad when I have no more Merlin to catch up on. Though I do mean to start watching Chuck and Avatar: The Last Airbender to make up for it.

Real post AKA icon dump AKA GWAINE prettehs and possibly new textures and that FanMix I've had sitting around for ages are all coming as soon as NaNo stops kicking my butt. Which will probably be December 1.

Guess what I put as the wallpaper on the family computer?

tv: merlin, !ramble
