"Silly Suburbanites, Abortions are for Blacks!"
Who knew that there was a stupid pro-choice argument even stupider than screaming "You're a man!" to a pro-life advocate? Well, in Portland, the debate is ongoing about whether to put a Planned Parenthood facility in a part of town highly populated by blacks (where apparently planning for parenthood involves ripping your children apart after parenthood) Apparently if you are white, you are 1) automatically a suburbanite and 2) trying to force our "white beliefs" on the poor black teenagers of NE Portland. Apparently pro-choice beliefs are as genetic as the color of our skin.
Quite humorously, most of the time people telling us suburbanites to leave "da hood" are white liberals, not blacks. Though yes, there have been blacks speaking out in favor of the Sanger Slaughter House (name pending!), but who really cares? Firstly, there have been many blacks standing against the Planned Parenthood, while, you guessed it, the majority of the people who support the Planned Parenthood (and I'm guessing most of the people who will work there) are white! In fact, I'd bet that the proportion of blacks and whites on both sides of this are the exact same! Yep, the majority of the people against the clinic are white...so are those who are for it. Thank you Oregonian for covering that!
So yes, let us white folk get out of the debate and see what happens.
Frankly, I don't care about race one way or another. Do the blacks who want their daughters to have easier access to killing their children think this is somehow empowering? Is a 16 year-old with a 21 year-old boyfriend what the feminists had in mind of "girl power" as she walks to Planned Parenthood? Somehow I have a feeling that she's not feeling so empowered, but she is desperate. This is why, with blacks and whites, the issue is family. If a family has a committed mother and father (preferably married), are the chances the same that the woman will get an abortion should she become pregnant? No.
So the blacks and whites who want a Planned Parenthood in their neighborhood aren't solving anything, save pregnancy if you view that as a "problem". Planned Parenthood does nothing to solve the problem: they hand out Grade-D condoms so the 16 year-old black girls with no ambition can continue to find their worth in boyfriends, kind of like they do to white girls. They abort over one-third of black people conceived in this country, releasing the girls back where they came from so that they can get pregnant again-kind of like they do with white girls. What a wonderful thing for the culture abortion-rights has done for blacks! I'm sure this is exactly what Martin Luther King, Jr. envisioned!
If there is one thing the black community should have learned throughout the years, it's that we white folks don't have any clue how to help their culture. We impose stupid, condescending programs that end up hurting the black community (forcing teachers to teach lessons in Ebonics, for instance) in order to appease our white guilt. The black community, as has been said by many black leaders, needs to help itself. Planned Parenthood was started by white eugenicist Margaret Sanger, and is a white-person's answer to the deprivation of the black culture, which, in my opinion, is not worse in one way or another to white culture, just differently wounded.
