"I Don't Believe Jews Are Human Enough to Protect!"

After reading a very painful article entitled "I'll Have Murder With Fries" by "Advice Goddess" Amy Alkon, I noticed what a good argument Ms. Alkon actually has. For lazy people, anyway.

Ms. Alkon simply wants to boil the abortion debate down to "we-all-have-different-opinions-and-that's-OK!". She freely admits to being a moral relativist, but I don't think even most of them would take such a childish position on an issue such as abortion.

Personally, my preferred habitat for a cow is on a bun on my plate. That said, I buy free-range meat, and believe animals should be raised and killed humanely. I also believe animals are lesser creatures than humans, and do not deserve the same rights, as rights come with responsibilities. We don’t, for example, hold a hyena responsible for eating a gazelle - we can’t.

I apply the same thinking to the abortion issue. While a clump of cells or even a large gathering of them that resembles a baby can become a person, they don’t constitute a full-fledged human being deserving of rights.

It’s possible you think differently. Well, as I wrote to the carnivore with the bunny-hugger boyfriend, “Your boyfriend’s entitled to his beliefs, and you’re entitled to yours.”

And there you have it! How could we have been so blind?!

Alkon then proceeds to talk about religions and how we all believe different things on abortion. (Oh yes, can't you picture Siddhartha waving a wire coat-hanger next to Whoopi, wearing a pink shirt?) Again, because everyone believes differently, we should all just do what we want and mind our own business. Ignore the silent cries of those suffering-like those African people over across the ocean.

I wonder if Ms. Alkon, then, takes this view with anything other than...abortion. For instance, if I want to abuse animals in my house, should I have that right? So long as it's in my house-and so long as animals are considered less important than humans, as she clearly says in her article-shouldn't I have the right to do it since I believe that it's OK to abuse animals? Don't tell me it isn't, such things are relative!

Then apply it to infants instead of animals. Or two year-olds. Or 24 year-old women.

Thankfully, Ms. Alkon doesn't need to address any such points. She can pretty much end her line of reasoning with this:

That’s the approach I suggest for the anti-abortion crowd. Don’t want women to have abortions? Pay them to have the babies. Pay for the care of the babies after they’re born - and don’t forget the college educations.

And when all of those women are taken care of, Ms. Alkon and the rest of the pro-choicers will be gung-ho for pro-life legislation, right? Thankfully for them, their main, lazy thesis: it's our choice, leave us alone, can endure even prosperity and blessings.
